The "small Y" NYC subway token, featuring a cutout Y shape, was in circulation from 1953 to 1970. Introduced with the creation of the New York City Transit Authority, this dime-sized brass token cost 15 cents until 1966, then 20 cents until its replacement by the "Large Y" token.
